IIS - Integrated Interactome System

IIS works in four connected modules which can be accessed from the projects created by the user:

  • MODULE 1: SUBMISSION, which receives chromatograms, processes them into reads and performs a partial read annotation
  • MODULE 2: SEARCH, which searches for the processed reads to be assembled into contigs and singlets, or for lists of genes, metabolites and/or drugs uploaded by the user to be added to the user project
  • MODULE 3: ANNOTATION, which compares the contigs and singlets or the lists of proteins/genes uploaded by the user to several databases (e.g. CDD, Prosite, Swiss-Prot, HPA, DisEMBL, PDB, Gene Ontology), generating tables with automatic annotation that can be manually curated
  • MODULE 4: INTERACTOME, which blasts the contigs and singlets or the lists of genes, metabolites and/or drugs against our Global Protein-Metabolite-Gene-Drug Interaction Database (GPMGDID, constructed by grouping the BioGRID, Intact, DIP, MINT, HPRD, HMDB, YMDB, ECMDB, DrugBank databases) and adds the novel interactions in the generated subnetwork. This module generates a xgmml file that can be imported into Cytoscape, which enables the visualization and manipulation of all interactions. The resultant network can also be visualized directly on the web
